  • About the Artist

"Marc Chagall (1887–1985) was a visionary Russian-French artist renowned for his distinctive blend of symbolism, surrealism, and modernism. Born in Vitebsk, part of the Russian Empire (now Belarus), Chagall's early immersion in Jewish culture profoundly influenced his artistic expression. His studies in Saint Petersburg and Paris exposed him to influential art movements, but Chagall maintained his unique style, characterized by vibrant colors and dreamlike imagery.

Chagall's career unfolded against the backdrop of historical upheavals, including World War I and the Russian Revolution. Despite facing challenges and periods of displacement, he settled in France in the 1920s, where his art flourished. Embodying a poetic and emotionally charged narrative, Chagall's works, such as ""I and the Village"" and ""White Crucifixion,"" continue to captivate audiences, leaving an enduring legacy that transcends artistic boundaries. He passed away on March 28, 1985, leaving behind a profound impact on the art world."
