Peter Bell, an influential figure in Newfoundland and Labrador's art scene, was born in England in 1918. After opposing apartheid in South Africa, he taught at Memorial University, curated its gallery, and critiqued art for the Evening Telegram. Bell's art, spanning landscapes and botanical themes, gained international recognition. He passed away in 2015, leaving a legacy of artistic innovation and activism.
